Resident Frequently Asked Questions

Posted By: Kelly Noble

I am a resident at an apartment community. Can you help me with an issue/complaint and can you give me a copy of my lease?
The Atlanta Apartment Association is a trade organization for companies that own and manage apartment communities and affiliated companies that provide products or services to the apartment industry. We are unable to answer questions from residents or respond to any inquiries. If you are having a legal issue, we recommend you contact an attorney who specializes in landlord-tenant law in Georgia. While you are entitled to a copy of your lease, we do not have copies, and you will need to ask your apartment community for a copy if you did not receive one when you signed it originally.

What is the Atlanta Apartment Association (AAA) and what do you do?
The AAA is a trade association founded in 1975 to represent the multifamily housing industry in the Metro Atlanta area representing professionals in the multifamily rental industry. The membership includes apartment property owners, management companies, independent rental property owners (less than 100 units), developers and suppliers to the industry. Our focus is legislation, education and communication for the industry.

Are all apartment communities in Atlanta required to be members of AAA?
AAA membership is voluntary. Apartment communities are affiliated through the membership of their owner/manager. Most professionally managed apartment homes in metro Atlanta are currently members, and  are dedicated to providing quality rental housing.

How do I join the AAA? Who can be a member?
Membership in the Atlanta Apartment Association is open to companies that own, manage or develop multifamily rental housing, as well as those businesses that provide products and/or services to the industry. You can use the "How to Join" link under the membership menu on the home page and learn more about the benefits of becoming a member of the AAA. All of our memberships are company based, and you can join online or by printing out a copy of the application and submitting it with payment to the AAA office. You can always contact the membership department with questions at membership@atl-apt.org.

I'm a member, but want to become more involved. How do I do that?
The best way to make the most of your membership is to become involved. If you are a first-time volunteer, the Membership Committee is the training ground for future service in other committees. If you are interested in participating on the Membership Committee, which forms each fall for service January-April, please e-mail the membership department by clicking here. In addition to serving on a committee, the AAA offers many events throughout the year that are outstanding opportunities to network with your fellow AAA members. Make sure to check the calendar of events regularly to see what is coming up.

How many members belong to the AAA?
The AAA currently has around 1,150 member companies made up of 350 apartment Owner/Management companies and around 800 Associate members who provide products or services to the multifamily housing industry. Our Owner/Manager members operate more than 450,000+ apartment homes over 2000 apartment communities across metro Atlanta.
