AAA committees are where ideas turn into action. By serving on a committee, members play an active role in shaping programs, events, advocacy efforts, and initiatives that support the Atlanta multifamily housing industry.

Launching next year! The Advocacy Advisory Council serves as the governing body responsible for oversight of the Association's political action committee (PAC). The council is charged with strengthening the multifamily industry's political influence through strategic political investment, member engagement, and fundraising leadership.
The Advocacy Advisory Council shall review and approve PAC contribution recommendations developed by government affairs staff. The Council shall also champion PAC fundraising efforts, cultivate a culture of political engagement among Association members, and support the development of relationships with elected officials and candidates whose leadership impacts the multifamily housing industry. Working in partnership with Association government affairs staff, the Advocacy Advisory Council is responsible for:

Reviewing and approving PAC contributions to political candidates and committees.

Establishing annual PAC fundraising goals and strategies.

Set fundraising goals for PAC events for AAA and GAA.
-
Serving as ambassadors for the PAC by promoting member participation and financial support.

Identifying, recruiting, and engaging new PAC contributors and advocates.

Supporting political engagement opportunities for members, including candidate events, fundraisers, and grassroots advocacy initiatives.

Providing strategic input regarding the Association's political engagement activities and long-term influence objectives.
The Advocacy Advisory Council is separate and distinct from the Government Affairs Committee. While the Government Affairs Committee focuses on legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues, this Council focuses on political engagement, PAC governance, and fundraising. Members may serve on both committees.
Committee Eligibility: Membership on the Advocacy Advisory Council is limited to representatives of member companies that have contributed or raised a minimum of $2,500 annually to the Association's PAC.
Chairs Role: Serve as a champion for the industry PAC, the Council Chair is responsible for setting meeting schedule and agenda with staff liaison. facilitates meetings, helps build consensus on contribution decisions, and serves as a visible champion for member investment in the Georgia Better Government Fund (GBGF) PAC. Council Chairpersons do not have to be current AAA board members.
Staff Liaison: Director of Policy and Government Affairs, Jordan Jones
The Can Can Ball Executive Committee supports the Atlanta Community Food Bank's planning and execution of its annual fundraising events, currently including Poker Night, Sip-N-Stroll, and the Can Can Ball. Working in partnership with Atlanta Community Food Bank staff, the Committee provides volunteer leadership, industry engagement, sponsorship support, and event promotion to help maximize participation and fundraising success.
The Committee is comprised of AAA member leaders and representatives from the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Planning efforts are led by Atlanta Community Food Bank staff, with committee members serving as ambassadors and advocates for the events within the multifamily housing industry.
The Committee meets throughout the planning cycle and is primarily responsible for:

Promoting participation in Poker Night, Sip-N-Stroll, and the Can Can Ball.

Recruiting sponsors, attendees, and supporters from the multifamily housing industry.

Assisting with fundraising efforts and donor engagement.
-
Providing feedback and recommendations to support successful event execution.

Helping expand awareness of the partnership between the Association and the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
Committee Eligibility: Prior volunteer service is not required for appointment to this committee.
Chairs Role: Serve as a champion for Can Can Ball and affiliated event fundraising efforts within AAA, encouraging member participation and sponsorship support, coordinate with AAA and Food Bank staff, and facilitate committee meetings. Chairs are also responsible for setting meeting schedule and agenda with staff liaison.
Staff Liaison: Senior Specialist, Engagement Operations, Taylor Echard
The Community Service Committee is responsible for leading the Association's community service and philanthropic initiatives. Working in partnership with Association staff and community partners, the Committee supports the annual Food-A-Thon campaign benefiting the Atlanta Community Food Bank and helps identify opportunities for member engagement through charitable giving, volunteerism, and community impact programs that align with the Association’s mission and strategic plan.
The Committee is primarily responsible for:

Encouraging member participation in the Association's community service initiatives, including but not limited to the annual Food-A-Thon campaign. Other partner organizations include but are not limited to Entryway, Open Doors Atlanta, and BreatheEasy Georgia.

Helping identify and evaluate new community service and philanthropic partnership opportunities that align with the Association's mission and values.

Supporting volunteer engagement opportunities that create meaningful community impact and align with the Association’s mission and strategic plan.

Promoting awareness of the Association's charitable activities and their impact on the communities we serve.
Committee Eligibility: Prior volunteer service is not required for appointment to this committee.

Staff Liaison: Vice President, Engagement Strategy, Heather Blanchard
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Committee is responsible for advancing initiatives, resources, and educational opportunities that promote a welcoming and inclusive environment within the Association and the multifamily housing industry. Working in partnership with Association staff, the Committee helps foster meaningful engagement among members from diverse backgrounds and perspectives while encouraging equitable access to leadership, education, networking, and professional development opportunities.
The Committee also administers the Access4Opportunity Scholarship, which supports professionals from underrepresented groups in the multifamily housing industry by providing opportunities to participate in key AAA events, education programs, and professional development experiences.
The Committee meets quarterly, with additional meetings as needed, and is primarily responsible for:

Recommending initiatives, programs, and resources that advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the Association.

Administering the Access4Opportunity Scholarship program, including application review and recipient selection.

Promoting awareness of the scholarship program and encouraging qualified applicants to participate.

Serving as ambassadors for the Association's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Committee Eligibility: Prior volunteer service is not required for appointment to this committee.
Chairs Role: Serve as committee leader, the chairs are responsible for setting meeting schedule and agenda with staff liaison, attend and lead regular meetings, attend and promote committee initiatives, and recruit new committee members. Co-chairs also serve on the review committee for the Access4Opportunity Scholarship applicants.
Staff Liaison: Director of Education and Leadership Development, Anne DeMartini
The Committee meets quarterly, with additional meetings as needed, and is primarily responsible for:

Attending and promoting AAA education and leadership development programs.

Providing input on educational and leadership development programs, workshops, seminars, and professional development opportunities to help ensure programs remain relevant and valuable to members.

Recommending new program ideas, speakers, and educational formats.

Committee members are strongly encouraged to be active participants in the educational events and/or pay and register associated team members to participate and attend.
Committee Eligibility: Prior volunteer service is not required for appointment to this committee. Co-chairs for this committee; Leadership Lyceum graduates preferred.
Chairs Role: Serve as the committee leader, responsible for include working with staff to plan and evaluate education & leadership development programs, ensure content remains relevant, explore emerging trends, and promote member participation. The Chair also sets the meeting schedule and agenda with the staff liaison, leads committee meetings, participates in the recruitment of committee members, and guides the nomination and selection process for Leadership Lyceum.

New in 2027! The Event Experience Committee is responsible for driving participation, volunteer engagement, and attendee experience for the Association's signature events, including the Golf Classic, Field Day, and Maintenance Muscle.
The committee works to increase event attendance, recruit participants and teams, promote events throughout the membership, and provide recommendations to enhance the attendee experience. Committee members also support event-day volunteer activities and assist staff with participant engagement efforts.
The Committee meets quarterly, with additional meetings as needed, throughout the year, either virtually or in person, and is primarily responsible for:

Recruiting attendees, players, and teams for Golf Classic, Field Day, and Maintenance Muscle

Encouraging participation from new member companies.

Promoting events through personal outreach and social networks.

Assisting with event-day volunteer support, registration, and participant hospitality.

Providing feedback and recommendations to improve event experiences.
Committee Eligibility: Prior volunteer service is not required for appointment to this committee.
Chairs Role: Serve as a leader and motivator for committee activities, encourage volunteer participation, coordinate member outreach efforts, and support staff in creating successful and well-attended events. Chairs are also responsible for setting meeting schedule and agenda with staff liaison.
Staff Liaison: Director of Events, Kimberly Cable
The Government Affairs Committee serves as the official liaison between the Association, government entities, and regulatory bodies. Working in partnership with the Association's government affairs staff, the Committee helps identify, evaluate, and respond to legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues affecting the multifamily housing industry. In accordance with Association policy and direction from the Board of Directors, the Committee provides guidance and input on advocacy priorities and policy positions on behalf of AAA and GAA members.
The Committee meets weekly via Zoom during the state legislative session (January–April) and holds two in-person meetings annually, typically in the spring and fall.
The Committee is primarily responsible for:

Evaluating proposed legislation and recommending appropriate advocacy strategies.
-
Providing input and recommendations on the Association's legislative priorities.
-
Assisting government affairs staff in identifying legislation that may positively or adversely affect the industry and providing expertise on alternative policy proposals.

Participating in grassroots advocacy efforts including email campaigns and virtual or in-person meetings with policymakers and elected officials.

Serving as ambassadors for the Association's advocacy initiatives and public policy priorities.
Committee Eligibility: Members of this committee must be currently serving in a senior-level capacity in the rental housing industry for an Owner, Manager, Developer or Supplier member company. Prior volunteer service is not required for appointment to this committee.
*Member companies should not have more than one representative serving on the government affairs committee unless otherwise approved by Board Chair and President/CEO.
Chairs Role: Serve as the committee leaders, the GAC Co-Chairs are expected to attend and lead committee calls and meetings throughout the year and participate in advocacy efforts through providing input on proposed legislation, participating in grassroots “calls-to-action,” and attending meetings with government officials when requested. Chairs are also responsible for setting meeting schedule and agenda with staff liaison.

Launching next year! Working in partnership with the Association staff, the Membership Advisory Council helps monitor and identify programs that meet the changing needs of membership. The Council is also responsible for supporting AAA's annual 1) Membership Campaign volunteers and the 2) Membership Ambassador volunteers.
The Council meets quarterly and is primarily responsible for:

Serving as ambassadors for the Association and its membership programs.

Assisting with the planning, promotion, and execution of annual membership survey.

Reviewing and providing input on the annual membership survey results.
-
Providing feedback on the needs, interests, and challenges of Owner/Manager (O/M) members.

Identifying new programs, networking opportunities, and events that deliver value to O/M members.
Council Eligibility: Prior volunteer service is not required for appointment to this committee.
Chairs Role: Serve as strategic leader, fostering collaboration, maintaining communication, and supporting campaign execution to drive membership growth, retention, and engagement in alignment with AAA’s mission. Time Commitment is year-round with increased engagement in August through March, leading campaign meetings & events in person & virtually. AAA Board of Directors Chair-Elect serves as co-chair.
Staff Liaison: Member Services Manager, Sydnee Allen
New in 2027! The Partnership Development Committee is responsible for maximizing sponsorship revenue and fundraising success for the Association's signature events, including the Golf Classic, Field Day, and Maintenance Muscle.
The committee works alongside AAA staff to develop sponsorship strategies, identify and recruit sponsors, strengthen sponsor relationships, and support achievement of annual fundraising goals for the Georgia Better Government Fund (GBGF) PAC as set by the Advocacy Advisory Council.
The Committee meets quarterly, with additional meetings as needed, throughout the year, either virtually or in person, and is primarily responsible for:

Recruiting event sponsors for Golf Classic, Field Day, and Maintenance Muscle.

Assisting with sponsor retention and stewardship efforts.

Identifying new sponsorship opportunities and revenue-generating ideas.

Leveraging industry relationships to expand participation and support.
Committee Eligibility: Members must have completed at least one term of the Membership Campaign before being eligible to serve on the Sponsorship Development Committee.
Chairs Role: Serve as a leader and motivator for committee activities, assist with sponsorship recruitment efforts, and support coordination with staff to ensure fundraising goals are achieved across all three events. Chairs are also responsible for setting meeting schedule and agenda with staff liaison.
Staff Liaison: Director of Sponsorships, Maggie Patterson
The Suppliers Council (formerly Associate Council) is responsible for fostering engagement, collaboration, and professional relationships among the Association's supplier members. Working in partnership with Association staff, the Council provides input on programs, events, and initiatives designed to enhance the value of membership for supplier companies. The Suppliers Council should reflect a diverse cross-section of the association's supplier membership, with consideration given to company size, geographic representation, and professional expertise during the application review process.
The Council meets quarterly and is primarily responsible for:

Planning and conducting quarterly Supplier member meetings.

Providing feedback on the needs, interests, and challenges of Supplier members.

Assisting with the planning, promotion, and execution of the Reverse Trade Show.

Identifying new programs, networking opportunities, and events that deliver value to supplier members.
Committee Eligibility: Members must be employed by a supplier (Associate) member company in good standing and have completed at least one term of the Membership Campaign before being eligible to serve on the Suppliers Council.
Chairs Role: Serve as the leader and facilitator for Council activities, coordinate meeting schedules with the staff liaison, approve meeting agendas, guide discussions regarding Supplier member engagement initiatives, and provide strategic input on the Reverse Trade Show and other programs serving supplier members. The time commitment is approximately one hour per meeting for four meetings annually, plus any preparation and coordination with staff as needed.

The Trade Show Committee is responsible for supporting the planning, promotion, and success of one of the multifamily housing industry's largest trade shows. Working in partnership with Association staff, the Committee helps drive exhibitor participation, attendee engagement, and overall event success while serving as ambassadors for the Association and the trade show experience.
The Committee meets quarterly, with additional meetings as needed, throughout the year, either virtually or in person, and is primarily responsible for:

Recruiting exhibitors and promoting booth sales.

Encouraging attendance among Association members and industry professionals.

Supporting event-day activities, including engaging with exhibitors and attendees.

Serving as ambassadors for the trade show and helping build enthusiasm throughout the membership.
Committee Eligibility: Members must have completed at least one term of the Membership Campaign before being eligible to serve on the Trade Show Committee.
Chairs Role: Serve as the leader and motivator for the committee, encourage exhibitor recruitment and booth sales, facilitate monthly committee meetings, and promote active participation among committee members. Chairs are also responsible for setting meeting schedule and agenda with staff liaison. The time commitment includes leading monthly committee meetings (virtually or in person) and attending the trade show.
