2026 Food-A-Thon Community Service Champion Q & A
How should my company organize its Food-A-Thon participation?
All participating companies (owner/manager and supplier) should designate one or two Community Service Champions to lead the campaign for the entire organization. Individual apartment communities should participate as part of their company's overall Food-A-Thon team rather than creating separate campaign teams.
Community Service Champions will coordinate fundraising, food collection, and volunteer participation across their company's portfolio and serve as the primary point of contact with AAA and the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
What is a Community Service Champion?
A Community Service Champion is one of two designated representatives from each participating company who help lead your organization’s Food-A-Thon efforts in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and the Atlanta Apartment Association.
Why did AAA create the Community Service Champion role?
As Food-A-Thon evolves to focus more on engagement and measurable impact, Champions help coordinate fundraising, food collection, and volunteer participation within their companies and communities.
What are my primary responsibilities?
Community Service Champions are asked to:
-
Serve as the primary point of contact for Food-A-Thon activities within your company.
-
Communicate campaign information and key dates to your teams.
-
Encourage participation in fundraising, food drives, and volunteer opportunities across your organization (and to each of your company's property teams).
-
Help recruit volunteers for IMPACT Week (September 21–25).
-
Coordinate volunteer sign-ups for your company with the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
-
Share campaign updates and celebrate successes throughout the campaign.
What is IMPACT Week?
IMPACT Week is the culminating volunteer initiative for Food-A-Thon, taking place September 21–25. During the week, AAA member companies will participate in rolling donation drop-offs and fill 600 volunteer shifts at the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
Note: Volunteer opportunities are also available throughout the campaign (June- September). Contact: volunteer@acfb.org to coordinate.
How will this year’s campaign be measured?
Our collective IMPACT will be measured in three ways:
-
Total dollars raised by your company team
-
Total pounds of food collected by your company team
-
Total volunteer hours served by your company team
How will the winning teams be recognized?
Companies with the highest IMPACT at the end of the campaign will be recognized at the AAA December Awards Dinner. Awards will be presented to the top Owner/Manager Teams and Supplier Teams.
Where can I find campaign resources?
All campaign materials, fundraising tools, volunteer information, and key dates are available on the Food-A-Thon webpage:
How can I encourage participation within my company?
-
Create friendly competition between properties or teams.
-
Share fundraising goals and progress updates.
-
Promote volunteer opportunities early.
-
Celebrate participation and recognize team members who get involved.
-
Connect Food-A-Thon efforts to your company’s culture and community values.
What if I have questions during the campaign?
The AAA and Food Bank staff teams are here to help. If you need assistance with fundraising, volunteer registration, food collection logistics, or promotional materials, please contact us:

What is the most important thing I can do as a Champion?
Stay in touch and lead by example! Your enthusiasm and involvement will inspire others to participate. Every dollar raised, every pound of food collected, and every volunteer hour served helps families across Georgia access the food they need.
Thank you for serving as a Community Service Champion and helping make 2026 AAA’s Year of Impact.
