Applied Strategies for Safer Multifamily Communities

The half-day program begins with an update on Georgia’s new premises liability standards from apartment law expert Mike Williams. Then, the hands-on workshop expands into the mechanics of risk analysis and crime prevention. Through case examples, scenario analysis, and group exercises, attendees learn how to identify vulnerabilities, gather and interpret relevant crime data, and establish stronger security frameworks aligned with industry standards and Georgia premises-liability expectations.

Charlie brings more than 30 years of security experience to his work advising apartment community owners and property managers. With a background in the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Army, and as a founding partner of Group Nine Risk Consulting, he helps multifamily operators reduce risk, strengthen security operations, and limit exposure to premises-liability claims.His career includes managing security in high-risk environments and leading behavioral threat assessments for large government facilities. Today, Charlie applies that experience to evaluating crime trends and translating security best practices into practical, cost-effective solutions for multifamily communities. Charlie is dual board certified in Security Management and Physical Security by ASIS International and is an active member of the Atlanta Apartment Association, the National Apartment Association, the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC), the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP), and the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP).
