Event Details

On January 28, 2020, HUD released a 19-page guidance memo regarding handling reasonable accommodations relating to Service and Emotion Support Animals (ESA’s).  The memo includes a step by step guide on how to handle reasonable accommodations.  Come learn step by step as to the way of handling reasonable accommodations pertaining to ESA’s and Service Animals.

Over 60% of all Fair Housing Claims involve denial of reasonable accommodations.  We will discuss how to reduce that exposure.

We will also present an update on the Fair Housing issues facing our industry.

Attorney, J. Mike Williams of Fowler, Hein, Cheatwood and Williams will bring us up to date on Fair Housing laws to include:  Handling reasonable accommodations relating to Service and ESA’s as well as other requests that are routinely made, disparate impact, familial status and federal protected classes.  He will explain how to properly handle a request for a reasonable accommodation, including the request for an ESA.  Is the two person per bedroom standard still applicable in today’s fair housing maze?  Know how to train your staff to reduce exposure from prospects and testers inquiring about reasonable accommodations.

This is an opportunity to have all your questions answered by an expert!  So, bring your onsite staff as well as corporate support and hear the latest information.
